We are very proud to be hosting a Christmas breakfast for the homeless people in the Southport area on December 19th, 2019. For a special treat we will be providing them with a Buffet of traditionally baked turkey breast with cranberry sauce & roasted leg of pork with apple sauce along with roasted potatoes, pumpkin, baby peas, caramelised onion and roasted carrots with a crunchy dinner roll. Desert will be Christmas plum pudding and vanilla custard. These people come from all walks of life who have somehow found themselves in this situation through no fault of their own and are someones brother or sister, mother or father or son or daughter.
We would also like to acknowledge Gwen and the other volunteers from the church and all walks of life who give up their time to provide a healthy breakfast every Thursday morning for their community. Thank you also to the businesses that donate to make this happen.
We hope we can make some small difference to their lives for Christmas and in the future.
HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!
What Happened at the Event?
It was a beautiful sunny morning when The Barbara Cherry Foundation surprised the Homeless people of Southport with a Christmas Breakfast they could only dream about. Their faces lit up as they perused the buffet and we loaded their plate with a healthy meal. The chairs and tables were set up and they took great pleasure in sitting around chatting with the person next to them and the volunteers.
They were very grateful for the food they had in front of them and savored every mouthful.
It was a pleasure to witness and we thank Gwen and the other volunteers that help the homeless on a regular basis.
